Next to Tahiti, Moorea is the second most popular tourist attraction of French Polynesia.  It is said to be the inspiration of James Michener for the mythical island "Bali-Hai" in his book South Pacific. 

Located about 12 miles west of Tahiti, Moorea can be reached by a 25 minute ferry ride. 
Moorea is a small island.  It covers an area of 53 square miles and the circle island road is only 37 miles long  Current population is at 14,000 residents.

Dry season: July-October
Tidal range: < one foot
Year round temperature:
    24 - 28 degree celsius
