Pender Harbour - Crown Jewel of BC's Sunshine Coast

Pender Harbour is a large, multi-inleted bay on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast.  It consists of the smaller communities of Madeira Park, Garden Bay, Irvine's Landing and Kleindale.  It is reachable by land via the Sunshine Coast ferry from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver to the Langdale terminal. After the ferry ride, get to Highway 101 North. Keep going through Gibsons and along the highway past Roberts Creek, Wilson Creek and Davis Bay. Stay on the highway right through Sechelt and continue north past Halfmoon Bay and Secret Cove. About 15 km past Secret Cove, you'll come to the south end of the Pender  Harbour area, called Madeira Park.

Alternatively,  if you're coming from Powell River, take the ferry from Saltery Bay to Earls Cove at the north end of the Sunshine Coast. Malaspina Coach Lines charter bus service runs from both the Langdale and Earls Cove terminals, and public transit from Langdale.

Pender Harbour is an ideal place for boaters.  Its mutiple inlets allow for many boating opportunities.  Many Vancouverites keep their boats in the many marinas at Pender Harbour.  Tourism forms an important part of the local economy, as Pender Harbour offers many outdoor recreational opportunities. Annual festivals popular with locals and visitors alike include May Day (the second oldest May Day celebration in B.C.) and the Pender Harbour Jazz Festival. It is also home to the biggest and longest running downhill longboard race in Canada, Attack of Danger Bay.

A very popular resort in Pender Harbour is the Ruby Lake Resort.
