Sunshine Coast -

The Sunshine Coast of British Columbia starts from the Langdale Ferry Terminal at Gibsons and ends at Powell River.  It is a favorite cruising destination for Vancouver and Seattle residents as it is easily within reach.

It is a boater's paradise with its majestic scenery of mountains, forests, wildlife and waterfall.  Cruising by boat, one can easily carve out a one-week cruising itinerary travelling from Vancouver to Gibsons, Sechelt, Pender Harbour, Powell River and retracing the route back, or a 10-14 day trip cruising from Seattle and back.

Weather wise, the Sunshine Coast offers lots of sunshine with total annual sunshine of  between 1400 to 2400 hours.  This is because the Vancouver Island mountains cast a rain shadow over the region, which shelters the area from moisture coming in off the Pacific Ocean.

For those travelling by car, travel time between downtown Vancouver to the Langdale Ferry terminal at Gibsons is only one hour and 15 minutes, 40 minute of which is the ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale Ferry Terminal.
